There’s this feeling you that occurs in the middle of a yoga class or after in Savasana where you feel so good, a natural high as if you’re floating.
Growing up with the woods as my backyard in the Pacific Northwest, I noticed that the same type of joy I experienced from the yoga practice was similar to the feeling I had when spending time outside or on a hike. Pure bliss and presence. Thus, nature and yoga combined have been a huge part of my practice.
Yoga is at the heart of everything I do.
I help to bring wellness and sustainability at the forefront of all my work. Through “Lily Finds Her OM Way”, I write to spread the connection of nature and mindfulness. Through my business Luv Collective, I spread the concept of holistic healing and love. Through Giving Bag, I help people recycle their unwanted items while traveling.
About
Hello, new friend!
Everyone has their own path to yoga and WHY they do what they do. Here’s a glimpse into mine:
I teach yoga for others to find self-expression and freedom in their bodies.
I first started my own version of yoga when I was young - in junior high- and my method of stress release was stretching. I’d go into our family workout room and spend an hour stretching, and then when friends would come over I’d also make them stretch with me (I was always a blast to hangout with!).
As I grew older and entered college, I started to experience changes in my body that did not happen in high school when I was practicing on dance team for 15 hours a week. Different insecurities and self-judgement followed. I was so out of touch with my body - and the only movement I had at the time was walking from class to class. Knowing that I needed some space for movement, I picked up my yoga practice again and yoga started to become a safe space for myself. No judgement for myself or the growing curves, but rather appreciation for my body. I was getting stronger, felt sexier, and confidence from the yoga mat started to translate into my real life.
Manifesto
I will go against the norm to fulfill my destiny, and I want to support others in doing the same! We can so easily become stuck in the tradition of society, but by cultivating a sense of awareness through our bodies, we can become aware of our patterns and reactions, which we can then use to help us off the mat.
Passions
I enjoy climbing mountains. So far, I have summited Kilimanjaro and Mount Rainier. I enjoy going on spontaneous adventures, working on creative projects, and going out of my comfort zone as often as I can. I am obsessed with Spanish culture (I studied abroad twice and also got engaged in Spain), and the concept of siestas is necessary in my life!
Education
I love learning, and if I could be in school or a training all day, I would! What I recognize most is that the true wisdom and learning does not come out of any real certification or training, but with practice and real life experience. I will be a student of life, forever.
